Dean Message

Stomatology faculty of Kunduz university is the only Government Medical faculty in the north-eastern zoon of the country which is established in 2012. Since 2016 on the basis of the need to see of Ministry of higher education the faculty is in gradual cancelation state.

During this period the responsible persons, Teachers and the staff of this educational institution suffered a lot for the betterment of educational conditions and providing effective facilities for the students, as result trained young professional doctors, educators and presented to the community. 

Objectives Of the faculty

  1. To train young teaching staff
  2. Introducing update and modernize dental medicine
  3. Preparation of the teaching staffs for more and better capacity building
  4. To link modern medicine with the advance world
  5. Seeking and facilitating better ways for dispatching the better staff to the modern medical world.
  6. Introducing stomatology and stomatology services to the citizens and country man.
  7. Introducing the duties and responsibilities of stomatologist and their differentiation from the dentists.
  8. Increasing the awareness and understanding level of the country man regarding professional services of stomatology and stomatologist
  9. Grant access for the control and prevention of the non-professional and bad quality treatment through non-professional persons. 

Treat common dental diseases in medical centers, Hospitals and Private clinics.

Brief introduction of the faculty

The faculty of stomatology has established in 2012 in the frame work of Kunduz university. The total credit of this faculty is 224. Duration of this faculty is 6 years including 1 year of house job.

Till now 344 students in four batches after passing the entrance examination

are introduced by the ministry of Higher Education to this faculty and 234 male and female students are graduated from the general stomatology department. The first batch of the graduated students of this faculty obtained the educational documents in 2018.

Vision

The stomatology faculty of Kunduz university as one of the put forth, standard and well-equipped faculty, having professionally teaching staff, we equipped infrastructures to train professional doctors in the field of dentistry in the country.

Major tasks

The major tasks of this faculty are to provide valuable and effective services to the students and community are:

  1. Given that effective teaching condition with international standards.
  2. Make available effective clinical services for clients.
  3. Training of professional teaching staff and continues development of educational programs.

Educational programs

Up to now the four batches of the students are graduated from general MD stomatology and since 2016 no new batch got admission in this faculty, hence the curriculum of DMD is not implemented.

Departments of the Faculty

There are three active department in the faculty which are:

  • General Internal department.
  • General surgery department.
  • Pediatric stomatology.

Teaching methods

 The teaching system is credit and student center learning method. Normally the following methods are applied in faculty:

  • Lectures, using multimedia and computer and prepared as Power Point presentations.
  • Practical work and Laboratory experiments.
  • Small group discussion
  • Practical work and Laboratory experiments.
  • Small group discussion
  • Problem based learning (PBL)
  • Case Based Learning (CBL) 

Evaluation

Evaluation of the students is performed during and at the end of each semester. Under the credit system, the passing score is 55 for an individual subject and the average passing rate for all subjects is 60%. The scoring range is from 0 to 100, from which 40% is allocated for midterm exam, class room activity and practical work and remaining 60% for final semester examination.

No regular students are there, 65 students are in the process of getting their educational documents.
